ESTERO, Fla. – Three undefeated men’s teams and the No. 2- ranked Baylor Lady Bears will be put to the test in the fourth-annual Gulf Coast Showcase which will be played at Germain Arena in Estero, Fla., next week. The men’s tournament tips off at 11 a.m. Monday and features Houston (2-0), Kent State (3-0) and South Dakota (4-0) as the three unbeaten teams here in the first week of the season. The Baylor women (2-1), who just suffered their first loss to third-ranked Connecticut, is joined in the field by No. 7 Ohio State, No. 14 Syracuse and No. 20 DePaul. The women’s tournament will be played on Thanksgiving weekend.
“We knew these would be attractive fields for both eight-team tournaments, but both slates have exceeded our expectations,” said Glenn Pfister, tournament director with event organizer bd Global. “Without question, the teams will discover their strengths and weaknesses in the three games they will play in the tournament, and in the process, they’ll discover all that beautiful Southwest Florida has to offer.”
